Each Little Green Button is configured by each user with a location. This location will be displayed on the panic alerts that appear on every other PC so they need to be simple and understood by all staff within your organisation. For this reason Little Green Button does not use the user name or PC name, it allows you to set the description yourself. Here are some examples of good locations and bad locations:

We advise you to avoid using individuals’ names as a location, in case they are not currently at that location, as this could cause confusion. The latest version of the software does allow every user to Set a username which will display alongside the location to give you an extra bit of information about who raised the alert at the displayed location.

Keep in mind the behaviour when using Identical Location Names is that they don't alert each other.

The Current Location

When you first log onto the PC you will be advised of the current location being used by the Little Green Button. This may appear as a dialogue where you can select your current location:

Select from a list of existing locations using the drop down menu.

If you are an administrator or have been given the right to set new locations you can click the Add button to set a new location.

You can also set a telephone number for this location below and your position on a map. If known, you can enter the co-ordinates, then click on the View Map link to see your location on the map and adjust if necessary.

Drag the pointer to the correct position on the map, close the map by clicking on the cross in the top right corner and the new position is automatically saved.

This map will be made available to all users should you activate your Little Green Button.

If you always use the same location and do not want to be prompted each time you can tick the box Don’t prompt for location on this computer.

Click OK.

If you have elected not to see this prompt for location at startup or do not have the right to set locations a notification will appear from the System Tray:

location_notification

This notification will display for a few seconds showing you the current location being used by the button.

If this needs to be altered and you are an administrator or have the right to set locations you can click on this message. If not,  you will be advised to contact an administrator.

Altering The Location

You can alter the location of the button at any point by right clicking on the button itself and selecting Alter Location… from the menu:

Note: If you have not been given the right to amend locations this option will be greyed out and therefore inaccessible.

The location dialogue box will open:
Select from a list of existing locations using the drop down menu.
If you are an administrator or have been given the right to set new locations you can click the Add button to set a new location. You can also set a telephone number for this location below and your position on a map.
If known, you can enter the co-ordinates, then click on the View Map link to see your location on the map and adjust if necessary.
